Sarah Lyman, PurplCouch Founder
PurplCouch was founded in 2021 to reduce the stigma and burden of divorce.
The company name was inspired by founder Sarah Lyman’s own divorce journey. When furnishing her new apartment after separating from her husband, she suddenly realized she didn’t need anyone else’s input on the furniture, and bought a velour purple couch - and named her business after it. “PurplCouch is a symbol of the empowerment we get when we look forward,” Lyman says, “and write the next chapter of our lives.”
